Because structure points only contribute to an objective’s cost function if the set dose-volume criteria are violated, the objectives can lower the DVH-curve locally. Objective A contributes 13% (33%-20%) of structure points to calculating the cost function, with dosei values ranging from 50-58Gy. Because objective B is placed further from the DVH-curve, the number of included structure points is larger (35%), with doses ranging from 30-40Gy. In case of overlap between the yellow areas, the included structure points would contribute to two separate cost functions.
