A field emission scanning electron microscopy image of a deliginified kraft pulp fibre adapted from [20] (reprinted with modifications with permission). After removal of non-cellulose I material during the kraft cooking process, it has resulted in a highly porous fibre wall morphology where fibril aggregates form a network.
