High resolution imaging of hepatic iron in wild-type mouse. The content of iron in a liver section of a wild-type animal at age of 10 months (cf. Fig.2, left hand sided section) was determined by LA-ICP-MS. The left panel shows a microphotograph of the section, while the image in the middle depicts an overview of iron in respective section. The white boxed area is shown at higher magnification in the right panel demonstrating that LA-ICP-MS imaging allows metal imaging at high resolution.
