CYPs function in the metabolism of aliphatic, alicyclic, and aromatic molecules to regulate hydroxylation, epoxidation, dealkylation, sulfoxydation, deamination, desulphuration, dehalogenation, and noxide reduction. In present research, Cytochrome P450 was up-regulated upon berberine chloride treatment, which suggested that it might be involved in tolerance of toxic chemicals.
