Images illustrate a case of a runaway nail in femoral lengthening with a distraction index of 3.8 mm/day. (A) AP and (B) lateral radiographic views show a 4-cm distraction reached at 11 days postoperatively without any intervention for rapid distraction. Followup (C) AP and (D) lateral radiographic views show three cortical consolidations at 60 days postoperatively (consolidation index = 15 days/cm).
