A, family of EPSPs elicited by virtual synaptic conductances of increasing strength (90–650% threshold-gsyn) in a dissociated superior cervical ganglion neuron. B–D, the same virtual EPSPs were elicited after addition of 3, 10 and 20 nS gleak. This resulted in a systematic reduction in the efficacy of EPSPs. In the face of the non-depolarizing leaks, it took more gsyn to trigger an action potential.
