Values are expressed as fold of the saline-treated control and are means ± SEM, n = 9 or 10 means of triplicate measures. Significantly decreased mRNA expression of TNF-α, IL-1β, TGF-β1 and MCP-1 was observed among metformin-treated groups (Met_1wk and Met_3wk), compared to the saline-treated control. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01.
