In Plasmodium and Toxo-plasma spp., FPP and GGPP are synthesized by a single bifunctional enzyme; in Cryptosporidium spp., NPPPS (nonspecific polyprenyl pyrophosphate synthase) synthesizes products with a wide range of chain lengths ([44,57,60]).
