Complexes may be formed by ‘free’ SPE-7 IgE bridging FcεRI-bound SPE-7 IgE in an Fv-Fv manner (A). Interactions between the Fv region of receptor-bound IgE and Fc of ‘free’ IgE (B) or between the Fc of receptor-bound IgE and Fv regions of ‘free’ IgE (C) have been ruled out. Variable and constant IgE domains are shown in blue and purple, respectively. Extracellular FcεRIα subunits are shown in green. The cytoplasmic region of the α-chain, and the β- and γ-chains of FcεRI have been omitted for clarity.
