The upper panel shows that the participants reported that the invisible body illusion induced a significant shift in the perceived body image toward greater transparency, in contrast to the mannequin illusion’s effect (there was a significant body type × visuo-tactile temporal congruence interaction). The lower panel displays the results of the control task, in which the participants estimated the perceived orientation of their body, which revealed no significant differences between conditions. *P < 0.05.
