Claudin-4 surface localization in the piglet jejunum is not influenced by colonization by commensal microbiota.In the jejunum of 14-day-old germ-free piglets ((a), (b)), piglets colonized with EC ((c), (d)), LF ((e), (f)), or conventional microbiota (SF; (g), (h)), Claudin-4 is localized to the surface between adjacent enterocytes.
