A, Adipocyte differentiation assay. The ALDH1^high and ALDH1^low cells of RD cells were cultured in an adipocyte differentiation medium. The assay was repeated three times, and representative images of Oil Red O staining are shown in the left panel (ALDH1^high) and in the right panel (ALDH1^low) (×40). Lipid droplets of adipocytes stained red with Oil Red O. B, Neuronal cell differentiation assay. The ALDH1^high and ALDH1^low cells of RD cells were treated with 100 nM retinoic acid and stained for NCAM (green). The nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue).
