Histamine promotes the development of DCs from monocyte precursors. Human monocytes were cultured for 3–6 d in the absence (Ctl) or presence of histamine (his) in IL-4– and GM-CSF–containing media (DC) or in the absence of growth factors (MO) (n = 29 or 26 for DC and n = 13 or 11 for MO).
