Location of VDR in human skeletal muscle after 16 weeks of 4,000 IU/day vitamin D3 supplementation. The vitamin D3 supplemented group (n = 9) increased skeletal muscle plasma membrane VDR protein by 1.42 % (±1.21) while the placebo group (n = 11) decreased by −6.7 % (±5.26) (P = 0.2) as demonstrated by immunohistochemistry and determined by Student’s t test.
