Developmental processes of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC27853 biofilm. Biofilms were developed using a static model according to the method described by Waite et al. (2005). The 12, 24, 48, 96, and 120-h-old biofilms were monitored by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). These five time points correspond to phases I–V, respectively, in this biofilm model. The scale bars are 10 μm. The coverage, thickness and biomass of the biofilms at different phases are shown in Supplementary Table 3.
