(B) OM protein profiles of the following deletion strains: a toxR mutant carrying either pBAD24 (lanes 1 and 2) or pCpxR (lanes 3 and 4), and ompU (lane 5) and ompT (lane 6) mutants. All strains were grown under AKI conditions at 37°C as described in Materials and Methods. OM proteins were resolved by 10% SDS-PAGE, followed by staining with Coomassie blue. The Cpx pathway was activated by inducing CpxR overexpression with 0.1% arabinose. Samples were collected from each strain at least three times; one representative SDS-PAGE is shown.
