MN5 dendrite growth and evoked firing start at P5. Pupal stage P5 includes the sub-stages P5 early [~12.5 h after puparium formation (APF)] and P5 late (~16 h APF). In P5 early, MN5 had not yet developed any dendrites (A), whereas in P5 late some dendrites were clearly visible (B). Different amplitude (0.1–0.3 nA) depolarizing somatic current injections did not elicit any firing response in P5 early (C).
