(A) The Adh^fn6 allele of Alcohol dehydrogenase contains a splice site mutation which retains an in-frame stop codon in the intron. This causes the Adh^fn6 mRNA to undergo NMD, during which the 5′ fragment is degraded by the exosome and the 3′ fragment is degraded by Pacman.
