The blood was collected from the orbital sinus, 48 h after alloxan administration, 60 mg/kg, i.v., before and 1 h after the last administration of distilled water (control group) or AECS, administered daily for 7 days. *p < 0.05 as compared to the same group, 48 h after alloxan injection (ANOVA and Tukey as the post hoc test).
