Notes: The dependent variable is the AMR. This table reports model 2 estimates of the effects of π~yk and τ~yk obtained by replacing equation (1)’s event-study dummies with k(g=21π~gkDjkDjg+y=03τ~gkDjkDjg), where Djk is equal to 1 if the county received a CHC between 1965 and 1974 and belongs to group k. k is defined as the group of treated counties with the indicated characteristic. Columns 1–4 are from separate regressions, each dropping one region from the analysis at a time as indicated in the column footer, and are for 2,823, 1,996, 1,661, and 2,643 counties, respectively.
