We propose that MIC10, MIC26, and MIC27 fail to assemble into a stable MICOS sub-complex containing MIC60, MIC19, and MIC25 and are degraded when QIL1 is depleted leading to MICOS disassembly, loss of CJs and cristae morphology defects.
