A hypothetical model of BDV P-mediated manipulation of epigenetic signaling. During infection, BDV P decreases cellular HAT activities, partly upon its phosphorylation by PKC, thereby resulting in lowered histone acetylation levels. Such reduced histone acetylation levels would, in turn, lead to reduced viral replication.
