Androgen-independent AR activation synergizes with paclitaxel to reduce cell survival. A, 3.5 × 105 LNCaP cells (dotted line) were seeded into CDT medium supplemented with DMSO control or 50 µg/mL recombinant HRG. Viable cells were counted after 48 hours of culture. ***, P < 0.001. B, LNCaP cells were seeded into CDT medium ± 50 µg/mL HRG. After 24 hours, 10−6 mol/L paclitaxel or DMSO control was added and culture was continued for an additional 24 hours. Cell survival in paclitaxel was determined by comparing the number of viable cells exposed to paclitaxel relative to each culture condition in DMSO alone. *, P < 0.05. Experiments were done at least twice in triplicate.
