Habitat pattern of basal AHN in rodents. Estimated numbers of young neurons (DCX+ or PSA-NCAM+) as a percentage of total granule cells (normalized young neurons) relative to tentative age are markedly lower in subterranean mole rats compared with surface-dwelling rodents.
