Red spots show the regions where the cases were found since the parasite was identified in the early 20^th Century. The regions spread over Japan, China including Taiwan, Mekong valleys, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia. The endemic was eliminated in many of these regions in the 21^st Century. Data of the prevalence of G442G available in literature till today are listed as percentage in each ethnic general population unless otherwise indicated.
