Experimental design. Dynamic gamma scintigraphy was used to monitor thoracic radiation beginning immediately after inhalation of a radiolabelled particulate aerosol. Sputum induction was performed 120–160 min after inhalation. Additional static scintigraphic images were acquired immediately following sputum induction and again at 24 h after inhalation.
