A canonical pathway analysis was conducted on the classifier dataset derived from a comparison of normal epithelium and rectal adenocarcinoma stages I to III. The significance of association between the classifier dataset and canonical pathway was measured using a Fisher exact test and a ratio of the number of molecules from the dataset that map to the pathway divided by the total number of molecules that map to the canonical pathway.
