Table 5. ASA classification of anesthesia risk.

Level 1: Healthy and fit patient, with normal organ functions
Level 2: With mild systemic disease (excluding surgical conditions) and sound functional compensation
Level 3: With severe systemic disease; with functional limitation, but is still able to cope with daily activities
Level 4: With severe systemic disease that is a constant threat to life; loss of ability to perform daily activities
Level 5: Not expected to survive >24 hours with or without surgery
