The expression of oestrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, TFF1 and TFF3 in breast cancers. Sections of primary breast tumours were processed for immunohistochemistry to measure oestrogen receptor (ERα), progesterone receptor (PgR), TFF1 and TFF3. Sections are from tumours in which all four biomarkers were detected (A), in which none of the biomarkers were detected (B), in which one or more of the oestrogen-responsive biomarkers was detected in the absence (C) or presence (D) of low oestrogen-receptor expression and in which the oestrogen receptor is expressed with low associated expression of the three responsive genes (D).
