Figure 10

Orientation and task-relevance effects evolve over the first three fixations. At the first fixation, a prominent bias towards upright faces appears in the LVF at 5 deg. eccentricity, and diminishes over subsequent fixations (top row). The growing task-relevance effect emerges at the second fixation (second row). The far right column and bottom row represent contrasts of these effects between, respectively, the first and third fixation and orientation and task relevance terms. Plots are thresholded as previously. Effects are plotted relative to the point of fixation (center), and circles mark radial distance at 5 deg. intervals.
