#Data are given as fold change (± SD) compared with expression in non-stimulated RPTEC.
*Significant up-regulation of mRNA level after 48 hrs of stimulation when compare to non-stimulated RPTEC
*<0.05;
**<0.005;
***<0.0005,
ns: no significant up-regulation.
§Quality control analysis in RPTEC stimulated with various cytokines. The expected response for each stimulation: TNFα up-regulates MMP9 [52,53], IL-6 [54,55] and IL-1β [36]. Stimulation of RPTEC with IL-1β up-regulates IL-10 [56], IL-6 stimulation up-regulates IL-10 [57] and IL-10 stimulation up-regulates IL-1β though this was not significant in these experiments.
¶ IFNγ up-regulated CXCL10 to 1000 fold in RPTEC [58].
One-way ANOVA with Dunett post hoc test was used to assess the differences in mRNA expression levels with all concentrations used for each cytokine to stimulate RPTEC when compared to non-stimulated cells. In the table the results are shown only for one concentration of each cytokine.
