Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induces damage to the renal tissue, which was followed by treatment with dexmedetomidine (DEX) and yohimbine (YOH) in the rats. Histopathological changes in the kidney tissue (hematoxylin and eosin staining; original magnification, x200). LPS was injected (5 mg/kg) in the tail vein to generate the rat sepsis models. DEX (10 µg/kg) was pretreated 10 min before LPS injection. YOH (1 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally 30 min before DEX exposure. Arrow: Dilatant renal tubules and renal interstitial infiltration of the inflammatory cells.
