Classification of daily patient encounters by disaster, acute and chronic categories. Disaster refers to an injury or illness that occurred as a direct result of the typhoon. Acute refers to injuries or illnesses that were not directly attributable to the typhoon and had an onset within 4 weeks of the patient encounter. Chronic refers to an injury or illness not directly related to the disaster that had been a concern for longer than 4 weeks.
