The modern Asian summer monsoon limit is shown by a green dashed line. Areas above 3000 m (above sea level) are shaded in grey. The Chinese Loess Plateau is shaded in light yellow. Daihai, Qinghai and Tianchi Lakes (red dots) and Dongge Cave (red cross) are additional key sites mentioned in the text. The figure was generated using GrADS v1.5.1.1269.
