Data were obtained from a search of the PubMed database by year from 1990 through 2012 using the terms “cognition” OR “cognitive” AND “bipolar” in the title or abstract. Date of publication for each year was defined as January 1 through December 31. Cumulative data are plotted in 2-year intervals; line represents an exponential trendline function applied to the data.
