Lp(a) levels were measured by immunoassay [QUANTIA Lp(a), Abbott Diagnostics, Abbott Park, IL]. Lipid levels were determined by enzymatic assay (Roche). The apo(a) isoform size was determined by electrophoresis on 4% polyacrylamide gels followed by immunoblotting (42) and is given as the number of KIV2 repeats relative to apo(a) isoform standards.
