The residual stress within the vessel wall was calculated by measuring the opening angle of radially cut ring sectors of the arteries. The graph indicates the HIV Tg mice have a greater opening angle and thus more residual stress than the wildtype mice in both the suprarenal aorta and carotid arteries. (* indicates p < 0.05 N=6 vessels and data is mean +/− SEM)
