a

This is calculated as (A × B) / C.

b

This is calculated as (B + C) / (A + B + C + D).

c

This is calculated as (A + C) / (A + B + C + D).

d

These tabulations ignore discrepancies in reports of vital status and age at death/current age between SSH and HDSS data. For example, one sister was reported as deceased by the SSH respondent but was recorded as alive in the HDSS data set: she is counted in column C here, not in column A.
