Treatment of cardiomyocytes with Calu-3 conditioned media causes contractile dysfunction. Calu-3 cells were treated with different concentrations of DEP that was added to the apical chamber, and media from the basal chamber was used to culture cardiomyocytes before functional measurement. All values were analyzed from 8 to 10 cells from 3 to 4 rats each normalized to control cells for each rat; a separate Calu-3 culture replicate was used for each rat. A: %PS. B: +dL/dT. C: −dL/dT.
