Whole blood cell counts were assessed to determine the number of WBC and platelets. Measurements were performed on Week 1, which was 24 h after the last P. gingivalis challenge and 4 days after exposure to C. pneumoniae (n = 3 for each group), and on Week 9 (n = 3 for Untreated Control, P. gingivalis-Infected, and C. pneumoniae-Infected; n = 6 for Western Diet). Data is normally distributed and analyzed using an ANOVA.
