Figure 5. MAP17 overexpression in Hela cells induces sensitivity to radiotherapy.

Figure 5

A) Hela cancer cells expressing ectopic MAP17 cDNA were selected and analyzed for MAP17 mRNA expression by quantitative RT-PCR. B) Hela cells expressing ectopically MAP17 cDNA (Hela-Map17) and parental cells expressing only empty vector (Hela) were seeded at equal concentration and subjected to different radiation doses as indicated, in triplicate samples. 48 hrs after treatment the percentage of survival cells was measured in each case and plotted in the graph. The experiment was performed three independent times in triplicate. C and D) Hela cells expressing ectopically MAP17 cDNA (Hela-Map17) and parental cells expressing only empty vector (Hela) were seeded at equal concentration and subjected to pretreatment with 10 mM GSH (C) or 10 mM NAC (D) during 18 hrs, then treated with different radiation doses as indicated, in triplicate samples. 48 hrs after treatment the percentage of survival cells was measured in each case and plotted in the graph.
