Differences in percent cover estimates between the Host and Visiting experts as well as the Abundance and Alleviate operational modes and the Archived annotations. Differences are displayed as mean with 95% confidence interval (n = 200 images) for functional groups (coral, macroalgae, CCA, and turf) and the three most abundant coral genera in each location: (A) Moorea, (B) the northern Line Islands, (C) Nanwan Bay, and (D) Heron Reef. Archived describes reference annotations, performed by a local expert in each location, against which the other results were evaluated. Abundance and Alleviate refer to fully and semi-automated annotation modes. Host refers to re-annotation by the same local expert. Visitors refer to annotations completed by five coral biology experts who do not regularly work in those locations. Genus-level identification for Heron Reef is not provided, as Archived annotations were not available to this resolution.
