FIG. 2. — This graph demonstrates the relationship between the signal intensity and quality of the oxygen measurement system and the position and amount of phosphorescent microbeads in the collagen matrix. The x-axis shows the depth of the phosphorescent microbeads in the scaffold measured from top. The y-axis specifies the ratio of sensor phosphorescence to background fluorescence. A ratio >1:1 is sufficient for oxygen measurement with the OPAL system, which is <10°mm for 2 mg beads (red squares) and <12°mm for 7 mg beads (blue rhombus).
