Error bars show within-subjects 95% confidence intervals. Correct identification was reliably above chance (6.7%, dashed line) for all syllables except /gɑ/ in the natural type and /lɑ/ and /nɑ/ in the synthetic type. Even for cases with low percent correct identification, entropy was generally low, well below the theoretical maximum for this task (3.91, dashed line), indicating that responses were typically allocated to a small number of response categories.
