Preferential incorporation of reactive precursors. (A) Catalytic membranes formed from a 12-carbon alkyl azide were combined with a precursor solution, containing 1.86 mM of a 1:1 mixture of 12-carbon and 16-carbon alkyl azides, and showed preferential incorporation of 16-carbon azides. The ratio of triazole phospholipid formed from 1-azidohexadecane (C16) vs. 1-azidododecane (C12) is greater in the presence of a higher concentration of coordinating buffer. (B) The relative distribution of the various triazole ligands, formed from C12 and C16 mixtures at 400 mM (left) and 600 mM (right) coordinating buffer concentration, shows increased incorporation of C16 at higher TES concentration.
