Δμ = μ(V, O2 or N2 sparged) − μ(0.54, N2 sparged) for the N2SAu catalyst after initial break-in (BOL) at the indicated potentials. Also indicated are FEFF8 results for the indicated adsorbates with Pt–O bond lengths as indicated in Å producing the shifts of the 30–45 eV peak (dashed lines show Δμ for just the O atom at the appropriate Pt–O bond length, solid for the full adsorbate such as OH* in blue and OOH* in red). The contribution from the second O in the OOH* is highlighted in red, that from the H in the OH in blue, as determined from the difference in Δμ with and without the second atom.
