In vitro biocompatibility of unmodified and mannan-modified P(HEMA-co-MAA) nanogels was demonstrated in fibroblast (L929) and macrophage (RAW 264.7) cell cultures. (A) Fibroblasts L929 and (B) RAW 264.7 cell viability fraction assayed with MTS after 48 h incubation with unmodified and OVA-loaded unmodified and OVA-loaded MN-modified P(HEMA-co-MAA) nanogels. No significant cytotoxicity was observed at the concentrations tested with either cell line; n = 3−6 ± SD.
