Metformin and cisplatin inhibit the growth of bladder cancer cell lines. Cells were treated with (A) metformin or (B) cisplatin at the indicated concentrations for 48 h. (C) BIU-87 and (D) T24 cells were treated with metformin (0.5 µM), cisplatin (2 µM) or cisplatin in combination with metformin for 0, 24, 36 and 48 h. Cell viability was determined by MTT assay. Data are presented as the mean± standard deviation of each group of cells from three independent experiments. *P<0.05 vs. control group; **P<0.05 vs. cisplatin and metformin monotherapy groups.
