Movements of excised leaf P124 of C. ensiformis exposed first to constant light and then to continuous darkness. The period of leaf oscillations becomes shorter upon transfer from light to dark. At the same time, a whole plant was treated similarly and its leaf movement recorded (P125) – see panel δL. The more frequent movements of P125 become synchronized with those of P124, when placed in darkness. Conventions which apply are the same as for Figs 2 and 3.
