Respiration rates were determined with chloramphenicol-inhibited cells on BIOLOG AN MicroPlates and normalized to OD₅₄₆ of the used cell suspension. Bars give average rates of ≥ 4 BIOLOG plates, for each strain cells were taken from two separate chemostat cultures. Error bars represent standard deviations.
